| Therapeutic Effect of Acupuncture Combined with Modified BuYang HuanWu Soup on PSD and its Influence on the Results of HAMD SDS and BECK Scales |

Abstract Objective: To explore the effect of acupuncture combined with Jiawei Buyang Five Decoction on post-stroke depression (PSD) and its effect on the results of Hamilton Depression Scale (HAMD), self rating Depression Scale (SDS) and Beck self rating Depression Scale (BECK). Methods: 84 patients with PSD were selected and divided into 2 groups according to the random number table method, with 42 cases in each group. The patients in the control group were treated with oral administration of Buyang Huanwu Decoction and five decoction. The observation group was treated with acupuncture combined with modified Buyang Huanwu Decoction and five decoction. The clinical efficacy, serum inflammatory factors, HAMD, SDS and BECK scales were compared between the two groups after 4 weeks of continuous treatment. Results:After treatment, the control group was markedly effective in 15 cases, effective in 18 cases, ineffective in 9 cases, the total effective rate was 78.57%. The observation group was markedly effective in 21 cases, effective in 19 cases and ineffective in 2 cases, the total effective rate was 95.24%, and there was a statistically significant difference between the two groups (P<0.05). Two groups of patients before treatment of HAMD, SDS and BECK scores showed no significant difference (P>0.05); after treatment, the observation group were HAMD, SDS and BECK scores were lower than the control group, there was a significant difference between the groups (P<0.05). Conclusion: Acupuncture combined with modified Buyang Huanwu five decoction is effective in the treatment of post-stroke depression. It can reduce the depression score, and improve the depressive symptoms of patients.
